Description of Elements within Jones e-global library

The following comprise the Base Library Product:

Online Tutorials: “How-to” guides that take the user through the Internet, libraries, and the research and writing process.

Information Resources: Overviews of more than 125 career, academic, and business topics.  Information resources are provided by linking to appropriate and authoritative association materials, online journals, government documents, research institute reports, and Internet-based white papers, surveys, statistics, and similar information resources.

Online Books: Links to collections of electronic books that are accessible via the Internet because their copyrights have expired.  Thousands of searchable volumes are available.

Articles of Interest: More than 7,000 websites that include hundreds of popular magazines, containing thousands of searchable articles, plus listings of sites useful for specific program areas and scholarly journal articles.

Government Resources: Links to federal government sites that provide access to approximately 150,000 full-text government documents.  Entries are annotated and organized by subject.

Career Development: Tools for finding job opportunities, researching industries, reviewing salary surveys, writing résumés, preparing for interviews, negotiating benefits, and more.

Student Financial Aid: A collection of the best resources about student financial aid, including information about application processes, qualifications, grants, scholarships, and loans.

General Reference: A comprehensive list of links to almanacs, dictionaries, maps, encyclopedias, and other reference works for swift and easy access to reference resources.

Life and Leisure: Additional information resources for topics outside the classroom, including eldercare, genealogy, travel, consumer information, food and cooking, health-related issues, and more.

e-globalSearch: e-globalSearch allows e-global library patrons to perform “federated” searches. A federated search enables users to access any number of databases simultaneously, rather than searching through them one at a time. With e-globalSearch, researchers are able to locate information more efficiently and with greater confidence that they are tapping into all the resources available to them.

Technical Support: All e-global library users are provided technical support via telephone and email (after business hours).

The following are Optional Resources:

Academic Collection of Online Books: Our relationship with ebrary provides access to a searchable Academic Complete collection of more than 30,000 full-text, digital books and other authoritative content from more than 220 leading publishers.  Students and faculty may search the collection, view important resources, and highlight and print pertinent sections.  They may also make notations for research purposes and create bookshelves of volumes necessary for current projects.  Multiple users may access, make notes, and highlight their own copies of the same book at the same time.

We also make available ebrary’s Academic Standard, a collection of more than 14,000 titles, which covers all of the topics addressed in the Academic Complete Collection.

Even more targeted are the Customized Subject Databases, aggregated in single genres to fit your specific needs, such as Business & Economics; Career & General Education; Computers, Engineering & Applied Sciences; Humanities; Science, Medicine & Allied Health; and Social & Behavioral Sciences.

Articles from Thomson Gale: e-global library’s alliance with Thomson Gale brings its subscribers a widely expanded range of up-to-the-minute periodical resources and competitive intelligence.

Updated daily, the InfoTrac OneFile database is a comprehensive periodical resource that encompasses 39 million database records, with an intuitive search interface. This dynamic source for practically every popular, business, and professional topic contains five newspaper indices (9,200 titles); backfile coverage from 1980; and 89 wire services.

The Business & Company Resource Center provides company and industry intelligence for thousands of companies. Its coverage includes millions of records, such as company profiles, including corporate parent/sibling relationships; industry rankings; products and brands; performance ratings; investment reports; industry statistics; current investment ratings; comprehensive financial overviews; pricing momentum and key ratio measures; financial ratios; and more.

Ask an Online Librarian: A team of on-call reference librarians are available at all hours, every day, to assist students with their questions.  Using “chat” and “co-browsing” features allows students to be guided to appropriate resources pertaining to their research questions.  At the end of each session, students receive an email containing a transcript of the chat and hyperlinks to each site to which the librarian took them.

Content Customized by Professional Librarians: Our professional librarians will locate the most current and relevant information in your specific areas of interest so your students, faculty, and staff will quickly find what they need, without searching through masses of irrelevant information.
